Product features:
The Dow BW30FR-400 membrane element adopts Dow's proprietary anti fouling membrane technology for chemical and physical modification, specifically targeting application fields with strict pretreatment but still rich in biological and organic pollutants in raw water. It exhibits excellent anti fouling ability and washability. It is an extension of Dow FILMTECTM BW30FR-365 product, which has demonstrated excellent anti pollution capabilities and system operation economy in the use of a large number of customers around the world.
BW30FR-400 has the following characteristics:
High effective membrane area (400ft2), achieving higher water production without increasing operating flux;
The FILMTETCM reverse osmosis membrane with high desalination rate is the component with the widest pH range (pH 1-13) for cleaning in the world, which can effectively clean inorganic salt scale, organic matter, and microorganisms;
Fully automatic and precise manufacturing technology, adopting advanced structures that shorten the length of the membrane and increase the number of membrane blades, reduces overall pollution levels, and maximizes membrane efficiency.
The above features enable users and operators to achieve long-term economy and maximum fault free operation when using reverse osmosis to treat highly polluted water sources.
Membrane model | Item number | Membrane area ft2 (m2) | inflow runner | Water production rate gpd (m3/d) | Desalination rate% | Minimum desalination rate% |
BW30FR-400 | 20681 | 400(37) | 28mil | 10,500(40) | 99.5 | 99 |
The above test values are based on the following test conditions: 2000 ppm NaCl, 225 psi (15.3 bar), 77 ° F (25 ° C), pH 8, and 15% recovery rate.
2. The flow rate of a single component may vary, but it will not be lower than the listed values by more than 15%.
When product quality improves, there may be slight changes in product specifications.
4. The effective membrane area will be within plus or minus 3% of the given value. The method of calculating effective membrane area for Dow water treatment and process solutions is different from other manufacturers. For specific details, please refer to literature number 609-00434.

When designing a multi-component system, please refer to the design guidelines of Dow Water Treatment and Process Solutions, and follow the corresponding recovery rate limits according to the type of water supply. 1 inch=25.4 mm
2. This component is compatible with a pressure vessel with a nominal inner diameter of 8.00 inches (203 mm).

Please refer to the cleaning guidelines in document number 609-23010;
Under certain conditions, the presence of free chlorine and other oxidants in the incoming water can cause serious membrane damage. As oxidation damage is not covered by the product warranty, FilmTec recommends removing residual free chlorine during pre-treatment before the membrane. Please refer to technical data 609-22010 for further assistance.
Dow Membrane Component Maintenanceimportant information:
It is necessary to correctly start the reverse osmosis water treatment system to prevent damage to the membrane components caused by water flow or hydraulic shock when the membrane system is ready for operation. Following the correct startup sequence helps ensure that system operating parameters comply with design specifications, thereby achieving the established design goals for system water quality and quantity. Before the initial startup program of the membrane system, the pre-treatment system debugging, membrane component loading, instrument calibration, and other system checks of the membrane system should be completed. For more information, please refer to the application literature titled "Startup Sequence".
oltremareRO reverse osmosis systemoperation guide:
During startup, shutdown, cleaning, or other processes, to prevent potential membrane damage, any sudden pressure or cross flow rate changes in the coiled components should be avoided. During the startup process, we recommend gradually transitioning from a static state to an operational state according to the following procedure:
The water supply pressure should gradually increase within the time range of 30-60 seconds.
The designed cross flow velocity value should gradually reach within 15-20 seconds.
The product water should be drained within the first hour.
Storage of Dow Membrane Componentsgeneral information:
Once the component is wetted, it should always be kept moist.
If the user does not strictly follow the operating limits and guidelines set in this specification, the limited warranty will be invalidated.
When the system is shut down for a long time, it is recommended to immerse the membrane components in a protective solution to prevent microbial growth. The standard storage solution contains 1.5% by weight of sodium bisulfite (food grade).
Users should be responsible for the impact of using incompatible chemicals and lubricants on components.
A single pressure vessel? The maximum allowable pressure drop is 50psi (3.4 bar).
Always avoid creating back pressure on the water side of the product.
